H.O.P.E.S. Foundation

Helping Others Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually Foundation (HOPES). HOPES has been chosen to honor the life of Anthony T. McCane and to contribute to building the HOPES Center which will house a Disability Gym, Resource and Support Center, Youth Awareness and Prevention Program, The DreamTeam Youth Sports Program and Young Adult/Adult Gang and Prison Program in his memory.

In 2005, Anthony inherited “The DreamTeam” a youth basketball program currently working with at risk boys ages 10 to 16 year old, competing in Pierce County Metro Parks and AAU basketball leagues.  What sets this program apart from other youth sports programs is they offer tutoring, prevention and awareness (i.e., drugs and alcohol use, gang activity, STD’s/AIDS among our youth), college mentors, and community service projects to address the damaging issues facing our youth on and off the court.

The HOPES Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was the vision of Anthony T. McCane, founded shortly after his sudden death on March 10, 2010 by his wife, Larissa McCane, to focus greater attention on accommodating the following:

·   Individuals primarily with spinal cord related injuries

·   Youth outreach programs building leadership qualities and mentors

·   Sports programs that set a new standard for youth sports

·   Support and rehabilitation for gang members and convicts
